WhatsApp Introduces Video Streaming Feature for Android Users

After video calling, WhatsApp now allows users to stream shared videos while downloading. You will no longer need to download clips on WhatsApp to watch them — the app is rolling out with a nifty wonderful feature that will improve your video watching experience on this platform. Earlier, if user wanted to see video shared by someone, he had to download it completely. If the user is on a slow data connection, the video would take a long time to download.

Now, in the latest beta update, the user can choose to view the video as it downloads in the background. Its same to youtube and other online sites which stream videos.

This social app is used by billions of people. More than billions of videos are shared in private chats and group. According to official report, the feature is yet not available to all users of WhatsApp’s Android app. It should become available in more regions and on iOS and Windows over the next few weeks.

How Video Streaming Feature Works :

The new streaming feature works in multiple ways. WhatsApp has replaced the download key with the new Play option. Upon selecting the new button, it will start streaming videos while buffering in itself, just like Facebook. It means that videos sent to you would be played in the background while being streamed. The above method implies if you do not have the app set up to automatically download media.

If you have your app set up to automatically download media, the message will start downloading to your device when it reaches and you will see the progress meter in the bottom left of the display. However, before that video has downloaded, you will be able to start watching it. When the download has completed, the progress bar will be switched to video duration indicator.

WhatsApp has traditionally been a little slow in implementing new features. However video streaming is the second video feature to come to WhatsApp this month. Last week, the company officially launched video calling, introducing face-to-face communication with other WhatsApp users.
