WhatsApp Is Testing Support for Three Accounts on iPhone

WhatsApp is working on a new feature that could allow iPhone users to add up to three accounts to the same app. The company currently allows users to manage two accounts on one device, but the upcoming change could make it easier for people who use multiple phone numbers.

According to WABetaInfo, the three-account feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for iOS version 26.37.10.15 through TestFlight. The feature is still under development and is not currently available for beta testers.

WhatsApp Is Testing Support for Three Accounts on iPhone

WhatsApp introduced multi-account support on iPhone with the WhatsApp for iOS 26.22.76 update. The feature allows users to add a second account without logging out of their primary account. Each account operates independently, with its own chats, notifications, backups, and settings.

The upcoming update will extend the same system to a third account.

WhatsApp Will Keep Accounts Separate

The third account will work in the same way as the first two accounts. Users will be able to keep separate chat histories, notifications, privacy settings, backups, and media for each profile.

Notifications will also identify which account has received a new message. This should help users avoid confusion when managing several WhatsApp accounts from the same app.

WhatsApp’s App Lock feature will also work separately for each account, allowing users to protect individual profiles with their own authentication settings.

How to Add a Third WhatsApp Account

Once the feature becomes available, users will be able to add another account directly from WhatsApp’s settings.

The Account List will show all accounts currently added to the device. After two accounts have been added, users will see an option to add another phone number.

Users will also be able to access the feature through the “Switch accounts” option. The interface will remain familiar, with each account showing its name, profile picture, and phone number. A green checkmark will indicate the account that is currently active.

Third Account Could Help Users With Multiple Numbers

The additional account could be useful for people who manage three phone numbers. For example, someone may use separate numbers for personal communication, work, and another purpose.

Previously, users who needed more than one WhatsApp account on an iPhone had to use a second device or rely on WhatsApp Business. The existing two-account feature reduced that need, and a third account could provide even more flexibility.

The new option could also save users from constantly switching between devices or deciding which accounts to keep on their main phone.

Feature Is Still Under Development

WhatsApp has not yet made three-account support available to beta testers. The feature remains under development, so its design and functionality could change before release.

The company has also not announced when it plans to roll out support for three accounts to the public. Users will have to wait for a future WhatsApp for iOS update to see when the feature becomes available.

WABetaInfo also notes that WhatsApp could potentially increase the account limit beyond three in the future, although there is no official confirmation of such a change.
