Among other social media giants, WhatsApp is also reported to test notifications that alert users if they receive a message forwarded to them for several times.

These alerts don’t actually show that the messages are spam or fake however will let you know that the messages are frequently shared. A person who will receive these messages will see alert” Forwarded Many Times” under the sender’s name. On the other hand if you are you are the one sending such messages, you will receive a alert which will notify that, “A message you are forwarding has been forwarded many times.”

Just like Facebook, WhatsApp has also remained in limelight for promoting fake news. Such viral messages results in misunderstanding and creates unrest in society. Facebook is also testing such feature to curb fake news.
