Almost every messaging app out there supports a bit of GIF alliance to some extent. But up till now only WhatsApp has remained steadfastly stuck to still pictures.

WhatsApp to Roll Out GIF Feature Soon

The widely used communication messenger WhatsApp has kept its trend of introducing interesting new features. The recent beta release for iOS reveals that it will probably introduce GIF feature soon.

@WABetaInfo, which traces modifications to WhatsApp beta updates, outlines that version 2.16.7.1 of the app will now auto-play GIF links and lodge them straightly into your chats.

Other changes recorded by the group comprise the competency to save the GIF image to your gallery including the option to save it as a simple image and support for Peek and Pop actions on GIF pictures.

This will be a big blow for well developed GIF search in apps such as Messenger or Wire. Now at least it signifies you won’t have to open up a search engine merely to view what your friend is sending you.

Excitingly the changelog also outlines app will be able to save GIFs “ as an image.” That’s a little strange inured the logic for sharing a GIF is the dynamism, but maybe it’s a space-saving thing.

Another important feature anticipated to arrive soon for WhatsApp is video calling, with indication in beta releases denoting to the company’s plans for the feature.
