Xiaomi 18 Fold Spotted at IFA 2026 Ahead of Official Launch

Xiaomi has showcased its upcoming 18 Fold at IFA 2026 ahead of its official launch next week. While visitors could not handle the foldable, the device was displayed behind glass, giving attendees a closer look at its design.
The first thing that stands out about the Xiaomi 18 Fold is its bright red finish. The color looks more vibrant in person than it appeared in earlier leaked images. It gives the foldable a distinctive look compared with many other smartphones in the category.

A Compact Foldable Design
The Xiaomi 18 Fold uses a short and wide design that gives it a more compact, passport-like shape. This form factor has recently gained attention in the foldable market, and Xiaomi appears to be following the same approach.
The phone also features noticeably rounded corners. This could make the device more comfortable to hold, especially during longer use. The rounded design gives the phone a softer appearance compared with some competing foldables.
The cover screen measures 5.38 inches. Its shape looks slightly unusual because one side appears more squared while the opposite side has more rounded corners.
When unfolded, the phone reveals a larger 7.58-inch internal display. The bezels look relatively slim, while the display crease was difficult to notice from most viewing angles at the IFA showcase.
The main screen has a punch-hole cutout in the top-right corner for the selfie camera. Since the displayed unit could not be handled, a closer assessment of the crease and overall ergonomics will have to wait until the official launch.
Triple Rear Camera Setup
The Xiaomi 18 Fold will also feature multiple cameras. A second selfie camera is placed on the cover screen, while the rear panel houses three cameras inside a horizontal visor-style module.
The setup is expected to include a main camera, an ultrawide camera, and a telephoto lens. Xiaomi has not yet revealed all the camera specifications, so more details should emerge during the official unveiling.
Powered by Xiaomi’s Xring O3 Chip
Xiaomi has already confirmed that the 18 Fold will use its in-house Xring O3 chipset. Early benchmark results have suggested promising performance from the new processor.
The chipset could make the 18 Fold an interesting competitor in the premium foldable market, especially if Xiaomi combines strong performance with its compact design.
For now, the IFA showcase has provided a closer look at the phone’s appearance and form factor. More information about its specifications, cameras, pricing, and availability is expected when Xiaomi officially launches the 18 Fold next week.
