Xiaomi Introduces Free Battery Replacement Program for Up to Five Years- Check the Eligible Devices

Xiaomi is introducing a customer-friendly free battery replacement program that could change how smartphone brands support users after purchase. The company has announced that buyers of the upcoming Redmi Note 17 Pro in China will receive a free five-year battery service, making it one of the most generous battery support programs in the smartphone industry.

The Redmi Note 17 Pro will launch in China on July 14. According to Xiaomi, customers who purchase the phone during its first sale will be eligible for the special battery program. If the battery health falls below 80% within the first four years, Xiaomi will replace the battery at no cost. Even more impressive, if the battery health drops below 80% during the fifth year, the company will replace it with a larger battery for free.

It will support 67W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing users to charge other devices when needed. Rumors also suggest that the phone may include the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor and a powerful 200MP main camera.

However, there are a few limitations. The battery replacement program currently applies only to devices purchased during the first sale in China. It is still unclear whether the same offer will be available in international markets or whether the global version of the Redmi Note 17 Pro will include the same large battery.

Even with these restrictions, Xiaomi’s announcement sets a strong example for the smartphone industry. If the program proves successful, other major brands like Samsung and Google may face increasing pressure to offer better long-term battery support.
