Over the past few years, Xiaomi has devoted more and more resources to improving its smartphone cameras, and it has been successful, with devices ranging from a reputation for poor cameras to one of not-quite-premium but still quite good performance. Xiaomi Mi 10 upcoming flagship device could be the next Camera monster.
Xiaomi is working on a 5x optical zoom and 50x digital zoom tool for its upcoming flagship Xiaomi Mi 10. It probably sounds familiar with that feature and it’s obvious why: it’s the same zoom capability as the much-lauded Huawei P30 Pro. The P30 Pro and OPPO Reno 10x Zoom are the only devices that have zoomed on that level so far.
It’s unclear how Xiaomi plans to do it, but they are willing to bet it is using a periscope lens like the P30 Pro and OPPO Reno. Xiaomi began to get reports as far back as last year about a Xiaomi phone with a periscope camera, so it wouldn’t be surprising.
The company also plans to release many phones with the latest 108 MP ISOCELL Bright HMX from Samsung — the sensor that debuted on the concept phone for the US$ 2800 Mi Mix Alpha. Apparently one of those phones will be the Mi 10, the next-gen flagship billed by Xiaomi for next year’s February release.
These three features are likely to appear on the Mi 10: 5x zoom, 8K recording, and a 108 MP lens. However, we are very curious that how the flagship would be priced if it turns out to be saddled with the impressive features of the camera.
Xiaomi takes the camera performance of its phones seriously and with its upcoming devices could be set to push the envelope. New reports allude to sumptuous camera features such as 8 K video recording, 5x optical zoom, and a Mi 10 debuting 108 MP sensor.
