Nearly half of all users still don’t bother using a passcode because longer passwords with mixture of numbers, letters and symbols are hard to remember. To cater this emerging problem, the smartphone giants came up with an idea of biometric alternatives i.e. fingerprint scanning.
Fingerprint scanners have been used before on devices including ThinkPads/laptops used by corporate customers, who wanted increased security. But the launch of Apple’s iPhone 5S highlighted the growing interest of users to unlock their smartphone using fingerprints, as it proved to be more convenient than memorizing a password.

According to Samsung, the expected Galaxy S5 could feature an iris scanner. So, If Apple holders will use their finger to unlock their handset then the buyers of Samsung could use their eyeballs.
