YouTube Launches Reels to Let Creators Post Snapchat-Like Video Stories

The mostly used feature among different social media platforms is “Stories”. Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook, many social media apps have this feature. Keeping in mind the trend of using this feature, YouTube Launches Reels to Let Creators Post Snapchat-Like Video Stories. YouTube has announced this today. Moreover, YouTube has also talked about its Community tab which now has over 10,000 subscribers.

Reels is YouTube’s spin on Stories. It is not an exact copy, there is a slight difference. Just like Instagram or Facebook, Reels won’t live at the top of the app. Instead, it appears in a brand-new tab on a creator’s channel.

Moreover, as Stories disappeared after 24 hours, Reels does not have any expiry date or time. It will permanently live in a tab separate from a creator’s main list of videos.Furthermore, users can have several Reels with no expiry date.

“Just like we did with Community, we’ll be experimenting with a beta version of Reels to learn and improve the product before expanding to more creators,”

Product Lead- community at YouTube, Roy Livne said.

According to the YouTube, Reels is introduced for a new video format on YouTube that lets creators express themselves and engage fans without having to post a full video. Under this feature, creators can record a few videos of up to 30 seconds each. You can add filters, music, and text to the Reels, with creators able to also add some “YouTube-y” stickers and links to their other YouTube videos.

YouTube did not say when Reels will arrive in beta form. We are also not sure about its availability for all users. But we will update you when we will get more information about this.
