YouTube now Suggests Best Smartphones for Video Playback
YouTube has just launched a brand new program, YouTube Device Report, which recommends the best smartphones. These best smartphones for video playback are named “Signature Devices” for Watching YouTube.
At the Galaxy Note 9 launch event, Samsung said the new device is “YouTube Signature Device” for 2019. This was due to the same program that YouTube has launched.
Here are the Best Smartphone for Video Playback
Best Smartphones from YouTube have the ability to watch the 360-degree footage, support for high dynamic range, high frame rate, 4K decoding, next-generation codecs, and reliable DRM performance. Google revealed that its team checks each device and works with its manufacturers to fix video playback performance and capability issues if any.
The YouTube report has mentioned 18 devices as best smartphones for video playback, some are as follows:
- Note 9
- Pixel 2 XL
- OnePlus 6
- HTC U12 Plus
- Xperia Xz2 Premium
- G7 Thinq
- Mi 8
- Xperia Xz2 compact
- Nokia 8 sirocco
- Galaxy S9
- pixel 2
- Mate 10 Pro
- LG V30
- Galaxy S9+
- Galaxy Note 8
- V30
Unexpectedly, none of the devices is an iPhone. This is a very sad news for iPhone lovers. Apple doesn’t support the VP9 video codec, which Google developed. Due to this reason, Safari users don’t have the option to watch footage in 4K.
This ranking will not affect, which smartphones people want to buy as people look for other great feature too. However, the iPhone now included in the list is shocking.
