Apple Commits $1 Billion Annually to Advance Generative AI Products

Apple hasn’t released a generative AI product like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google Bard. However, the company still incorporates AI into its products. Rather, it uses AI to do tasks like text autocorrection and photo enhancement. According to Bloomberg, Apple has reportedly developed its own large language model, or LLM, framework, which is known as Ajax. Additionally, it is claimed that the company has developed a chatbot that is internally known as Apple GPT. Neither one of these features has been included in its products as of yet.

There have been rumors that Apple is exploring ways to implement AI into Siri, Messages, and Apple Music. It would employ AI to build automatically generated playlists, similar to how Spotify does it through its partners with OpenAI. According to the article, the business is also studying the use of AI in Xcode in order to assist app developers.

The key figures spearheading the company’s AI endeavors have been identified as John Giannandrea, the Senior Vice President of Machine Learning and AI Strategy; Craig Federighi, the Senior Vice President of Software Engineering; and Eddy Cue, the Head of Services. These executives are said to be at the forefront of Apple’s efforts to harness the potential of AI technology.
