Instagram is Testing Hiding Likes Globally

Some weeks back, Instagram accorded its plan of hiding likes and gave a reason that Instagram Likes are contributing to depression among people who have fewer likes than their friends. A few weeks back, Instagram tested hiding Likes in the US and people were not happy about it. Many tech journalists, including us, wrote on this issue revealing that Influencers were Nervous on Instagram’s ‘Hiding Likes’ Test. However, it seems Instagram do not care, and they have implemented the Hide Like Test globally now.

The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, while telling about this feature said that the implementation of hiding likes was crucial as it will change how young people feel about the social media platform.

While further elaborating it, Adam said:

Today a small portion of people on Instagram worldwide will no longer be able to see the number of likes other people’s photos get. Our hope is to better understand how this idea changes how people feel about using our platform, particularly young people. https://t.co/NdODxtKbky

Well, you will only be able to see how many people like your photo. The only reason for removing this most wanted feature is to wave goodbye to pressure young people to have regarding any post with more or fewer likes. It is not the first time Instagram has done something for the welfare of people.
