Protecting our planet is no doubt a big challenge. The four natural wonders are facing destruction as we are not doing anything to protect them.
The Great Barrier Reef:
Half the great barrier reef has died since 2016, as water is getting too hot for coral to survive. 90% of heat trapped by greenhouse gasses is absorbed by the ocean. Up to 94% of tropical reefs have suffered fatal bleaching caused by warm water.
2. The Antarctic:
Now the ice sheets are melting six times faster than in the 1980s. Antarctic ice alone accounts for 0.6mm of sea level rise every year.
3. The Amazon Rainforest:
The 20% of Amazon rainforest has already been destroyed and according to the estimation that the figure will be 27% by 2030, at current rates.
4. The Rhone Glacier:
Scientists say that half of Switzerland’s small glaciers will be gone by 2045. It is to be expected that the alps would lose up to 70% of their snow cover by 2099.
