3D Donkey Game For Nintendo Switch Cancelled!
An outstanding 3D Donkey Kong for Nintendo Switch has been in the pipeline of rumors for a long time. The Vicarious Visions game codenamed “Freedom,” was claimed to be in the early development stage. The project wanted to bring a fresh look to Donkey Kong, however, it never really went past the idea.
Reports claim that the concept of the Vicarious Vision adaptation of Donkey Kong was tremendous. The game aimed to offer a new take on our favorite character. It would have been a refurbished version where Donkey Kong had larger arms with smaller legs. The game creators reportedly made this special design to stand out against other identical games. They wanted to portray a more recent version of the monkey. However, the sad piece of news is that this highly anticipated game has been canceled.
Vicarious Visions’ Donkey Kong Fans Disappointed
The most notable feature of Donkey Kong was a gameplay element borrowed from the Vicarious Visions experience of the Tony Hawk game. The monkey could grind the vines like a skateboarding trick. This unique approach hinted at the new dynamic gameplay style which could have rejuvenated the series for current players.
No doubt, the idea appeared fruitful and promising in the initial development stages. Reports claim that the “Freedom” was eventually ended due to the change in Vicarious Visions’ internal team. Two key founders, Karthik and Guha Bala left the company. It was a major milestone that led to the shift of studio focus. On the other hand, Activision consolidated the team’s efforts on their owned properties, so ultimately, it was transferred to the concept creation of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.
