While speaking at ‘Pakistan Startup Cup’ competition, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal revealed that Pakistan will soon get 5G services. Pakisttan Startup Cup competition was jointly organized by US Embassy and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE). 5G Cellular Services to be Launched Soon in Pakistan: Ahsan Iqbal. In the ‘Pakistan Startup Cup’ competition, over 950 teams from Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, and Islamabad competed for the top prize of Rs 1 million.

According to the Planning Minister, Pakistan and the US are working on ‘Knowledge Corridor’. Under this programme almost 10,000 PhDs from Pakistan will be trained in the US universities.
Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal said:
“People who already have access to 3G/4G technology will be able to benefit from the next advanced mobile network technology after the launch of 5G in the near future,”.
“We have big hopes from our youth, who have the potential to contribute to the development and prosperity of the country,”
Earlier at “ITU-PTA Asia-Pacific Regulator’s Roundtable 2016” Anusha Rahman said that Pakistan to Have 5G Technology by 2020. She also stated that the government is trying hard to make connectivity easy in northern areas.

Apart from that Zong has shown keen interest to perform trial runs of 5G technology. Zong announced this at the Mobile World Congress Shanghai. China Mobile also revealed about its first 5G prototypes and its commercial launch in 2020. According to news reports, China Mobile has completed the first phase of 5G programme in China. Let’s see how early will 5G launch in Pakistan.
