Dark Mode for Android Messages was a much-requested and long-awaited feature. Google rolled out this much-demanded feature a week back. This dark mode turns the white background of the app to a dark shade of gray. Everyone welcomed this change. Moreover, there were discussions going on that why don’t Google make it black? The black theme would have been perfect for OLED screens and so on. Recently, Google has mysteriously and inexplicably removed the Dark Mode via a new Android Messages update. Google Dark Mode for Android Messages was removed by the company without any explanation.
Google Dark Mode for Android Messages Maybe removed for bug fixes
At the very first, this change was seen by a Reddit user. Following that this change has been confirmed by many users whose app reverted to the default white background. Moreover, now the company had locked the users out of the setting to switch to the Dark Mode. It was confirmed after the same happened on multiple devices upon checking. Although no one is aware of the real reason behind taking the theme down.
Dark Mode on Android Messages can still be enabled on rooted devices. If Google has taken such a step then obviously there would be a reason behind it. Their intention may be to solve bugs. This is only our prediction as there are no words by the company on it.
The reversal may be temporary. It is possible that the company may roll this theme out after doing some important changes or fixes. There would be for sure a proper reason behind it. So, we wouldn’t be surprised if Google flips the switch and enables Dark Mode again in the coming weeks. So, wait and see whether the Dark Mode makes its way to your phone again or not.
