The two-day Momentum Tech Conference concluded on 7th February 2017. Many young entrepreneurs, startup enthusiasts, investors and speakers from Pakistan attended this Conference. The conference was held at Karachi’s Expo Centre. Momentum Concludes at Karachi by Bringing Together Many Tech Entrepreneurs & Investors.

The conference-cum-exhibition, held on Feb 6-7, had speeches and panel discussions. The event featured executives from some of the most prevalent tech startups and organisations such as P@SHA, Microsoft, Telenor, Homeshopping.pk, Careem, Pakwheels, Amazon web and IBM.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was the chief guest for the event. He appreciated the efforts of the young entrepreneurs. He also advised them to dream big and not to compromise their dreams. Youth should be strong enough to face the obstacles and handle pressure.

Two Plan9 Startups Bag the Startup Pitch Competition at MOMENTUM

The event represented over 100 Pakistani startups. Such events provide endeavoring entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their intentions and get financial support from investors.

Momentum has played a huge role by empowering Pakistani Startups and connecting them with international investors and mentors

Co-founder and CEO of SocialChamp, Sameer Ahmed Khan, became the winner of Momentum Startup Pitch competition. A cash prize of $10,000 was given to him.

Upon his success Sameer said that,

“The true success belongs to all the startups that represent Pakistan. With all the limited resources and crazy challenges, they still beat an entrepreneurial heart, and look into the eyes of all those who say Pakistan isn’t ready yet.”

He further added that,

“Momentum played a huge role as a catalyst to this change by empowering Pakistani Startups and connecting them with international investors and mentors.”

Whereas CampusFeed and Nearpeer the startups from Plan9 bagged Rs.3 lacs and Rs.7 lacs respectively. They remained 1st runners up and 2nd runners up.

Pakistanis are blessed with talent and enthusiasm but they need dedicated platforms. Platforms like, Momentum Pakistan facilitate entrepreneurs who are seeking to start a startup.

Events like these are really helpful to associate Pakistani entrepreneurs of different backgrounds. That are willing to work on a common ground by being the most inventive in creating their own point of differences. So lets hope that other such initiatives will also be introduced.
