Samsung Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee Arrested on Corruption Charges. Jay Y. Lee, the Voice Chairman and also the apparent heir of Samsung, has been arrested on charges of bribery/corruption in Korea.

Lee is being guilty of paying bribes to the advisor of President Mr. Park Geun-hye for some political favors. This has been reported by The New York Times. He is accused of giving around $36 million to the advisor of President in order to win Korean Government support in his company favor for a merger between two Samsung subsidiaries.

The most interesting situation over here is that Park is already facing trouble in Korea as she is being impeached over the influence of her aides. Hence, the arrest of Lee will prove her impeachment further as he is the high level business executive in the country.

Y. Lee has assumed the corporate control of the company in the absence of his father; who is ill these days. In Jan, 2017 court issued orders to arrest Lee in this President Park saga but was rejected by the court after proceedings.
