Minister IT & Telecom Visits Airlink Communication’s State-of-the-art Smartphone Manufacturing Facility

Airlink Communication Ltd is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors in Pakistan. Recently, the Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, visited Airlink’s state-of-the-art smartphone manufacturing facility. For all those unaware, it is the place where Airlink manufactures smartphones in partnership with global giants Xiaomi and Tecno. During the visit, Shaza Fatima applauded Airlink’s commitment to innovation and its remarkable inclusion of women in the labor force, which stands at an exceptional 25 to 30%. She stated:

“I am truly impressed by the technological advancements and commitment to gender inclusivity demonstrated by Airlink in this facility. The government recognizes the importance of the smartphone manufacturing industry in driving economic growth and job creation. Our goal is to provide full support to individuals and businesses in the smartphone manufacturing sector, ensuring that Pakistan becomes a leading exporter of technology products in the future.”

Shaza Fatima Visits Airlink Smartphone Facility

In response to the minister’s remarks, Airlink’s Group CEO, Muzzaffar H Piracha, underscored the company’s vision for technology transfer and its role in setting Pakistan as a global technological hub. According to Piracha, Pakistan’s smartphone industry is now producing 97% of the market share domestically. It has tremendous potential to contribute to Pakistan’s economy. According to him, the export of smartphones alone is anticipated to bring in up to $10 billion in foreign exchange, further boosting Pakistan’s position in the global market.

Airlink CEO aims to expand into Electric Vehicles (EVs) and advance the landscape of the Internet of Things (IoT) products in Pakistan. Moreover, the company envisions a future where technological innovations meet domestic demand and drive significant foreign exchange through exports. Airlink has already invested in Xiaomi’s LED production factory. It will reportedly start its production in the coming months. Furthermore, Airlink aims to improve and empower communities through technology via strategic partnerships and a dedicated commitment to excellence.
