A New Kirin Chip Will Power Flagship Killer, Huawei P70 Art
Huawei is all set to wrap off its new photography-focused flagship P70 series tomorrow. The P70 series includes three models: the P70, P70 Pro, P70 pro+ and the P70 Art. Geekbench has benchmarked all three models. The one model that appears to have escaped the testing was the P70 Pro+. The benchmark tests revealed that P70 and P70 Pro will be powered by Kirin 9000s SoC produced by SMIC using its 7nm process node. On the other hand, the flagship model Huawei P70 Art is tipped to boast a new Kirin application processor (AP). U.S. export rules prevent SMIC from building any silicon components more advanced than a 5nm node but still Huawei seems to be bringing a new Kirin chipset.
A New Kirin Chipset Will Power Huawei P70 Art
The P70 with model number ALT-AL10 had a single-core score of 1243 and a multi-core score of 3840 in the benchmark test. The P70 Pro (ALN-A80) totaled 1348 and 4114 for its single-core and multi-core scores respectively. Last but not least, P70 Art (MNA-AL00) scored 1784 (single-core) and 4589 (multi-core).
The P70 and P70 Pro will be powered by Kirin 9000s chipset. You heard right! It is the same one that Huawei surprised the world with when it launched the Mate 60 series last year. Kirin 9000s SoC has a 12-core configuration made up of two high-performance CPU cores running up to 2.62GHz, six performance CPU cores with a clock speed as high as 2.15GHz, and four efficiency CPU cores clocked up to 1.53GHz. On the other hand, the P70 Art is tipped to be powered with a new Kirin chipset. U.S. restrictions prevent Huawei from obtaining chips that support 5G and the Kirin 9000s does so. U.S. lawmakers are reportedly investigating how China’s largest foundry, SMIC produced the SoC. The premium P70 Art model is anticipated to even achieve that might not be possible. The AP running the P70 Art has one CPU core with a clock speed of up to 3.19GHz, three CPU cores clocked as fast as 2.75GHz, and four cores with a clock speed as fast as 2.02GHz. The P70 Art variant that surfaced on Geekbench sported 12GB of RAM. Some leaks suggest that the P70 handset will offer Beidou’s satellite messaging feature. The highly anticipated P70 series will take messaging and satellite calls to the next level via BeiDou’s Tiantong 1 satellite.
