A source from Apple revealed that in the coming months they are about to start assembling lower priced iPhone in India. These iPhones are basically SE models at a contract manufacturers plant in the southern Indian technology hub Bengaluru. To manufacture iPhone in India Apples partner Wistorn Corp is planing to set up plant in Bengaluru. By this way this Taiwanese company will solely ficus on manufacturing iPhones as a separate entity.

From quite some time the tech giant Apple was trying to get approval from the Indian Government to manufacture its devices in India. Now at last the wait is over as Priyank Kharge, the IT minister for the Indian state of Karnataka, has said that Apple will soon begin assembling iPhones in the country.
Apple’s this moves exactly shows that it wants to increase it shares in the world’s fastest growing market of mobiles. Handsets cheaper than Apple are ruling the market. To let go of this situation Apple has planned local production and it had negotiations with Indian government regarding issues tax concession.

Apple to Assemble 300,000 to 400,000 iPhone SE handsets Initially
According to Reuters in India, Apple has planned to manufacture 300k to 400k iPhone SE handset. However this number can also decrease. It is yet not decided that what other handset of Apple would be manufactured at Bengaluru plant.
Apple sold 2.5 million iPhnoes to India last year. It means three quarter of iPhones were sold in India. In the fourth quarter, Apple ranked 10th in India’s smartphone market but led the premium segment with a 62 percent market share. The entry level iPhone SE model sells on Amazon.com’s India site for 28,433 rupees.
