Chinese Telecom Company Decides To Invest In Pakistan For Smartphone Manufacturing

In a significant development, the Chinese company Taavun (Pvt) Limited has decided to invest in Pakistan for smartphone manufacturing. Several media reports have been swirling around about this investment. The Chinese company has even made necessary arrangements for manufacturing low-cost smartphones with the latest features. It seems a very good decision indeed. It will help Pakistan manufacture budget-friendly smartphones packed with promising features for people who can’t afford flagship phones.

Tavuun To Invest In Pakistan For Smartphone Manufacturing

Last week, the chief executive officer of Taavun (Pvt) Limited Shahbaz Khan, and CEO Wateen Adil Rashid met the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja. They discussed the prospects of investing in Pakistan. It is pertinent to mention that the Chinese smartphone has previously introduced three major brands in Pakistan. According to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Tavuun has completed all formalities for investment in Pakistan.

During the meeting, Ms Fatima underlined vast opportunities for investment in the IT and Telecom sector of Pakistan. She stated that the government has been using all resources to bring Foreign Direct Investment. According to her, the private sector will be supported as it has a huge potential to increase exports. She further added that Pakistani youth is a great asset. Therefore, the government is taking important steps for its development. She thanked Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan of the UAE for showing his special interest in financing the telecom sector in Pakistan.

Recently, the Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, visited Airlink’s state-of-the-art smartphone manufacturing facility. For all those unaware, it is the place where Airlink manufactures smartphones in partnership with global giants Xiaomi and Tecno. During the visit, Shaza Fatima applauded Airlink’s commitment to innovation and its remarkable inclusion of women in the labor force, which stands at an exceptional 25 to 30%.
