HUAWEI is Rebranding its P Series Flagships to “Pura”

HUAWEI, despite facing challenges in Western markets due to the US ban, continues to excel in producing flagship smartphones with remarkable camera capabilities. The HUAWEI P60 series, in particular, has garnered praise for its impressive camera hardware, competing toe-to-toe with the best offerings in the market. However, breaking away from its traditional P series branding, HUAWEI has introduced a new nomenclature for its upcoming releases—the “HUAWEI Pura 70” series.

The shift from the P series to the Pura series marks a significant rebranding effort by HUAWEI, as announced through its official Weibo account. The company stated that the P series has undergone an “upgrade” to become the HUAWEI Pura, reflecting a fresh approach and a renewed perspective towards their smartphone lineup. Moreover, HUAWEI confirmed that subsequent iterations will continue with the numerical denomination, starting with the “70” series.

HUAWEI is Rebranding its P Series Flagships to “Pura”

According to leaks from Digital Chat Station, the HUAWEI Pura 70 series is expected to encompass four distinct devices:

1. HUAWEI Pura 70
2. HUAWEI Pura 70 Pro
3. HUAWEI Pura 70 Pro Plus
4. HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra

Offline retailers in China have already received various RAM and storage configurations of these devices. The base variant boasts 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, while the Pro version offers additional 1TB storage options. The Pro Plus variant steps up with a boosted 16GB RAM configuration, while the Ultra model features a singular 1TB storage variant. It’s worth noting that these are not exhaustive specifications, hinting at the possibility of more RAM and storage variants.

Furthermore, indications suggest that the HUAWEI Pura 70 Ultra might feature a Ceramic build, which could potentially result in a heavier device. This choice of material reflects HUAWEI’s commitment to premium craftsmanship and durability.

While HUAWEI aims to cater to its domestic market primarily, there are expectations that select devices from the Pura 70 series might see a limited release in certain EU regions, akin to the strategy employed with the P60 Pro. However, penetrating global markets remains a challenge, primarily due to the absence of Google integration. Although HUAWEI offers its own suite of apps to compensate for this shortfall, convincing consumers in the Western market to adopt these alternatives poses a considerable obstacle.

In conclusion, the HUAWEI Pura 70 series represents a significant evolution in the company’s smartphone branding, promising cutting-edge technology and innovation. However, its success beyond the confines of its home market hinges on overcoming the hurdles posed by geopolitical tensions and the need for seamless integration with global ecosystems.
