Mobile services will remain suspended on Chehlum

The Punjab government has requested the federal government to suspend cellular phone service in 20 districts of the province on the occasion of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). So now Mobile services will remain suspended on Chehlum.

Security institutions have recommended the provincial government for suspension of the cellular phone service in 20 districts. The decision regarding suspension of cellular phone service will be made after consultation with the federal government.

However, the Punjab Home Department has sent a request to the Interior Ministry for suspending of the mobile phone service in the sensitive districts on the occasion of the Chehlum.

The Punjab government has also issued a notification of local holiday on the occasion of Urs of Hazrat Syed Ali Hajveri, popularly known as Datta Gunj Bakhsh, on December 24.

The offices of City District Government will remain closed on December 24. However, the offices of provincial government, civil secretariat and provincial departments would remain open on the occasion of the Urs.
