Many rumors and leaks have been circulating that OpenAI will launch a ChatGPT–powered search engine quite soon. However, OpenAI has not officially announced anything regarding it yet. On the other hand, Google is prepping to hold the Google I/O annual developer conference next week with all-important announcements. OpenAI seems to launch the new search engine ahead of the Google I/O annual developer conference to steal the limelight. We will get to know whether OpenAI is brewing a new Google Search competitor very soon. Rumors claim that the ChatGPT-powered search engine was previously anticipated to launch on May 9, however, now it will be announced just a day ahead of Google’s event, i.e. on Monday, May 13.

OpenAI Aims To Steal Google’s Limelight by Announcing ChatGPT-based Search Engine

Google I/O will kick off on May 14. AI is anticipated to be one of the hot topics of discussion. As per reports, OpenAI is tipped to steal Google’s limelight by announcing the ChatGPT-based search engine ahead of the event. Anyhow, OpenAI has not confirmed this information yet. Therefore, there is still some room for the possibility that the launch date may change. Contrarily, the company may be keeping its plans under wraps and could reveal the new search engine unexpectedly on the presumed date.

The rumored ChatGPT-based search engine is tipped to give tough competition to Google’s Search Generative Experience. It will give users contextual answers to their search queries by collecting results from different web sources. The service is anticipated to be partly powered by Microsoft’s Bing search. There has been no further information about what the search engine will do. All we know is that its launch seems imminent.

According to a poll conducted, nowadays people are inquisitive about AI-based search experiences. They don’t necessarily trust the information AI gives as compared to what they can infer with a traditional search.
