At GDC 2018, Qualcomm Announces Snapdragon 845 VR Development kit. The company will launch this development kit in the second quarter of this year. This development kit is based on its Snapdragon 845 VR platform. The kit will showcase key elements of Qualcomm’s mobile chip-based VR system, including full inside-out motion tracking. Moreover, Qualcomm has partnered with eye-tracking company Tobii.

Furthermore, it will also support HTC’s Vive Wave platform, which is designed to let VR developers build and sell software across multiple brands of headsets. One of the prominent feature of this kit is “6DoF SLAM”, which stands for six degrees of freedom (6DoF) with simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).
Qualcomm’s development kit does not provide fully tracked motion controllers. But it still offers more freedom. Those who buy this kit will get a single 2560 x 1440 WQHD display, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.
The Snapdragon 845 also provides a new boundary system. This system will allow the developers to visualize how much space their app is going to take in the real world. Moreover, they can also constrain the player to those boundaries. Furthermore, it qill also help developers tomanage things like notifications and videos within their app.
Qualcomm has not announced the pricing and availability detail yet. But we will update you when we will get more information about it.
