Sony Confirms the Xperia Event 2024 on May 17

Sony has officially announced the “Xperia Special Event 2024,” following a leaked announcement yesterday. The event is scheduled for May 17 at the Terrada Warehouse B&C Hall and is set to be an exclusive affair with only 100 invitees.

For those who are unable to attend in person, there will be a live stream available. The event description promises that Xperia developers will showcase the latest features in real life.

The key question surrounding this event is whether Sony will unveil all three models (1, 5, and 10) or if there will be additional announcements later on. Last year, Sony announced the Xperia 1 V and 10 V in May, but Sony announced the  Xperia 5 V in September.

Sony is famous for its slow approach to launching phones. THe company announced the Xperia 1 and 10 models in May but launched in July and June, respectively.

Leaks suggest that the Sony Xperia 1 VI will depart from its tall 4K display and adopt a more standard aspect ratio (6.5″ display, 19.5:9), while still avoiding notches and punch holes. However, the camera may remain unchanged from last year. The Xperia 1-series phone will also receive a RAM upgrade, but the 5-series model will come with 8GB of RAM.
