E-Commerce Policy Plays a Vital Role for Empowering Youth-Ministry of Commerce

Advisor to the Prime Minister for Commerce, Industries and Investment met with Tania Adirus Head of Digital Pakistan, Prime Minister Office today on 13th December in his office. She informed the Advisor about the activities she has undertaken especially with the youth and women for promoting entrepreneurship and startups. Advisor shared the action matrix of e-Commerce Policy developed in consultations with all the stakeholders and reemphasized its significance for enhancing youth employment through freelancing and services exports.

Secretary Commerce explained that Policy is a living document and we keep on having stakeholders meetings for the implementation of this policy under the Chairmanship of the Advisor. The private sector remains in the driving seat and regularly provides its input. It is also transforming public sector governance as it envisages e-procurement within three years of the Policy launch

Advisor appreciated her engagement with youth through universities as e-Commerce Policy has very specific provisions for empowering youth and women entrepreneurs. The enthusiasm and positive momentum generated through the launch of Digital Pakistan needs to be maintained by adequately addressing the expectations of youth.

Secretary Commerce also informed her about the training being organized by SMEDA and TDAP on e-Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Digital marketing, entrepreneurship and many other topics to impart practical knowledge and know-how for a successful business especially in exporting sectors.
