Finally US Lifts Laptop Ban for Etihad Flights Only

Three months back, the Department of Homeland Security of US has imposed ban on laptops in flights from 10 Muslim-majority countries. Due to this ban no passenger was allowed to carry electronic devices larger than a smartphone on the flight. The devices like laptops, portable gaming products and tablets were supposed to be placed in hold luggage. Now Finally US Lifts Laptop Ban for Etihad Flights Only.

US announced this on Sunday that now passengers can bring their tablets and laptops on flights. The state department only allowed those passengers who are coming on Etihad Airways flights.

Etihad is the first airline that is going to benefit from the ban lift by US. Whereas, other airlines of countries and regions like Turkey, North Africa and the Middle East are supposed to wait for it.

The state department mentioned the reason behind this lift that Etihad has cooperated well with US government and took enhanced security measures.

David Lapan, the spokesman for the US Department of Homeland Security said that:

“We commend Etihad for working swiftly to implement these additional measures. Their efforts are a model for both foreign and domestic airlines looking to adopt the new measures.”

Let’s see when the other airlines has get rid of this ban and the passengers will be able to bring and use their laptop during flights.
