Huawei P30 Review – A Triple Camera Phone
Huawei P30 Specs, Features and Price in Pakistan
It seems that no one is talking about the Huawei P30, which is basically the slimmed down version of the P30 Pro. This phone is much cheaper, more compact and it even has some advantages over its bigger brother, like the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Okay, now getting straight to the review of the Huawei P30.
The Design and the Gorgeous Display!
First of all, it is more compact and more comfortable to hold in the hand. The build quality is equally great as the Huawei P30 Pro, we do have that same sturdy metal frame with good physical buttons and great placement. The back of the phone is made of glass that provides great premium looks. At the back of the phone, you’ll also find a triple camera setup instead of four cameras found on the pro mode. We’ll get more into the cameras later on.
Huawei P30 has a smaller OLED display (6.1 Inches)Â than the Huawei P30 Pro (6.47 Inches)Â that I found to be pretty nice and sharp (even more pixel density than the Huawei P30 Pro due to having the same resolution). Colors are on-point, it is a really bright display and can easily be used under direct sunlight.
Note: The display on the Huawei P30 is flat (not curved like the Huawei P30 Pro).
On the front, we have the same 32-megapixel selfie shooter. Unfortunately, the phone does not have an LED notification light, one really important downgrade at the p30 is just IP 53 certified whereas the pro model has ip68 certification. That means that the p30 can survive only accidental water splashes but the p30 pro can be submerged underwater.
Other key features include an in-display fingerprint scanner that is an improvement from what we have seen in the past. We’d rank it the second best In-Display fingerprint sensor after the Samsung Galaxy S10 ultrasonic fingerprint and so far has been working really well. The facial recognition is also really fast and accurate in our test.
The phone also has a headphone jack, an expandable memory card slot with dual sim support. The sound quality is also good, we noted that it produces a rich, crisp and loud sound.
Interface and Processor of Huawei P30:
When it comes to hardware, the P30 uses the same Kirin 980 chipset like the P30 pro model. You also get plenty of RAM (6GB) and storage (128 GB).
If you are a gamer, you may expect excellent gaming performance as the device can handle all the 3d, graphics intensive games. The EMUI offers plenty of features and customization options and we admit that they have improved a lot in their latest Android 9 version. The UI isn’t laggy or stutters anywhere, thanks to the top of the line hardware and better software optimization. I have used plenty of Huawei phones over the years and the p30 certainly is the best of them.
How Good are the Cameras on the Huawei P30?
The overall image quality is really impressive and it’s comparable to most of the flagships out there (even better than most). The pictures taken using the Huawei P30 are sharp, very detailed and have a dynamic range which usually is on point.
If we compare the quality to the P30 pro you will see that the image processing is a little bit different but in general, both camera systems take comparable pictures whether you use the main or wide-angle lens. The P30 has 3x optical and 5x hybrid zoom that lets you take high-quality telephoto pictures. However, we admit the P30 pro is simply better in this department.
It offers more zoom range and better quality, low-light image quality is really good what’s even more impressive is that the p30 goes toe-to-toe with a p30 pro. We took really nice pictures using the main wide-angle and even telephoto lens in low-light.
Also, portrait pictures taken with the main camera look pretty good too.
How Good is the Dedicated Night Mode?
The dedicated night mode takes one of the best low-light pictures on a smartphone, hands down!
The Front Camera!
Selfies look really nice and sharp at both auto and portrait modes.
About the video, it supports 4K and the footage is quite stable even though there is no optical image stabilization. However, once you start switching between different camera modules they may struggle with autofocus.
Network and Battery Life of Huawei P30:
The Huawei P30 uses the traditional earpiece so the call quality is really good. I also found signal reception to be great GPS is accurate and Wi-Fi is fast there are also plenty of sensors.
Battery life has been excellent on average, you should expect to get over 10 hours of screen on time depending on how much I use the device. We can fully charge the phone in just over one hour, unfortunately, there is no wireless charging feature that is found on the p30 Pro.
