Similarly, as we have heard many news about the once pioneer messenger of the world and internet’s most recognizable company “Yahoo” that it is going to be bought by U.S. company “Verizon” for $4.8 billion. It is important here to note that Yahoo will be dead but Lycos will remain to exist. Hence, the remains of Yahoo Inc. will be given “Altaba” name.

After the sale of core businesses of Yahoo including Digital Advertising, Email and Media Assets to Verizon, 6 directors including the CEO (Marissa Mayer) will leave the team. The company announced on 9th Jan, 2017 that:
“What’s left remaining is Altaba (formerly known as “RemainCo”), a holding company for Yahoo’s 15% stake in Alibaba and its 35.5% stake in Yahoo Japan.”
