Coca-Cola Used AI to Create New Flavour, The Y3000 Soda

Coca-Cola is famous for its iconic flavours around the globe. However, the latest one is out of this world. The company just launched Coca‑Cola Y3000 Zero Sugar — which was co-created by humans and AI.

The taste of the Y3000 beverage was a two-step process. First, researchers at Coca-Cola collected key flavour preferences and trends to understand what consumers imagine and think the future tastes like.

Then, that information was crunched by Coke’s artificial intelligence system to “help develop flavour profiles and pairings.”

Coca-Cola doesn’t describe what the new flavour tastes like in any of its materials. However, the drink comes in regular and zero-sugar varietals. Also, Coca‑Cola Y3000 will be sold in the US, Canada, China, Europe and Africa for a limited time.

Oana Vlad, Senior Director of Global Strategy at The Coca‑Cola Company, said in a statement that the new beverage explores the notion of “what a Coke from the future might taste like. We hope that Coca‑Cola will still be as relevant and refreshing in the year 3000 as it is today”.

The brand said that this new effort will bring an “uplifting expression of what Coca-Cola believes tomorrow will bring.”

In addition to the drink, fans can access the Coca‑Cola Creations Hub through a QR code, which allows consumers to imagine the future with the Y3000 AI Cam.

The Y3000 flavour will also be accompanied by some futuristic clothing as well. Coca-Cola is teaming up with the luxury streetwear brand Ambush to release a collection this fall.
