Drone Cameras Banned in Karachi Amid Security Concerns

The administration of Karachi has banned the use of drones in the southern district amid growing security concerns. As per the details, there are “serious threats” to the Chinese diplomatic mission from militant groups and hostile agencies. The decision comes after keeping in mind the high-profile attacks that happened in the past targeting Chinese interests in the region.

With CPEC at its helm, safeguarding Chinese nationals involved in these vital projects has become essential for Pakistani authorities. Recent tragic events, which include the bombing that took the lives of five Chinese workers and their local driver, have underlined the need for improved security measures.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and key cabinet members visited the Chinese embassy to offer condolences and reassure Beijing of Pakistan’s devotion to safeguarding its citizens. Moreover, Pakistan will thwart any attempts to undermine Pakistan-China friendship, and the PM highlighted the government’s resolve to probe the matter thoroughly.

In a notification issued by the commissioner of Karachi division, Muhammad Saleem Rajput, the ban on drone usage was implemented under Section 144(6) Cr.P.C. The measure seeks to control any potential mishaps and maintain law and order amidst increased security concerns. Apart from that, a team of Chinese experts has reached Pakistan to investigate the incident and cooperate with local authorities.
