Islamabad’s Educational Institutions to Get State-of-the-Art IT Labs

The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training has announced plans to set up sixteen cutting-edge IT labs in educational institutions across Islamabad. This initiative will be carried out in collaboration with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

SIFC was established to attract investments from allied nations in designated sectors. It functions as a centralized organization, serving as a ‘single-window’ platform for facilitating investments. Its overarching goal is to enhance the ease of doing business for potential investors by adopting a comprehensive ‘Whole of Government Approach,’ ensuring efficient coordination and facilitation across various government entities.

The involvement of the Pakistan Army enables optimal horizontal-vertical synergy and facilitation to streamline the investment process. These state-of-the-art IT labs will serve as hubs for imparting the latest skills to the youth, thereby enhancing their employment prospects. These labs are slated to be established in sixteen degree colleges situated across various areas of Islamabad.

These IT labs will offer six-month courses to students in blockchain, data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and game development. The courses are designed to align with market demand and will be initially offered to approximately 1,000 students in the first phase.

The National Vocational and Technical Training Commission, in partnership with esteemed universities such as NUST, National Skills University, COMSATS, and NUML, has formulated these courses. These courses are scheduled to commence in the second week of this month, these courses have already attracted registration from approximately 3,600 students.
