LG Introduces Gram Series Laptops with Very Light Weight and Portable Design

LG has introduces two light weight Laptops under the Gram series. the Korean tech giant has announced that it will sell 13- and 14-inch versions of its ultralight Gram laptops in the US through both Amazon and Microsoft Stores

Both models weigh in at just 980 grams and feature a 1920×1080 IPS display.  As for the thickness, the LG Gram only measures 12.5 or 0.5″ mm thick, which leaves no space for portability issues.

LG Gram’s chassis materials are made of carbon-magnesium and carbon-lithium which results in a robust frame along with the thin and lightweight dimensions.  LG Gram has a minimal bezel of 7.2 mm on the sides and has a top bezel for the webcam.  The 13.3-inch model comes in white while the 14-inch LG Gram comes in gold.

The 13.3 inch version comes with a Broadwell Core i5-5200U with 2.2 GHz and a turbo of up to 2.7 GHz.  Meanwhile, the 14-inch version offers Core i7-5500U with 2.4 GHz to 3.0 GHz.

The prices are certainly competitive, beginning at $899 for a 13-inch version with a Core i5 chip, 8GB of RAM and a 128GB solid-state drive. Move to the 14-inch model and you’ll drop $999 on a base version with similar specs, or $1,399 for one with a Core i7 processor and a 256GB SSD.

Other features of LG Gram include dual USB 3.0, HDMI, and SDX card reader with a micro USB connector.  The said connector can be used with the 10/100 Ethernet included in the unit package.

One issue concerning the LG Gram is that its lightweight and slim packaging seems to take a toll on its battery life.  Although LG gives both Gram models 7.5 hours of battery life, the said batteries are just a 35 Wh model which leans on a big disadvantage over other Ultrabooks.
