Telenor’s Tameer Bank and Punjab Govt unite to expedite Digital Farming

Scientific and technological advances are already opening up new possibilities for farmers around the world, Pakistan will soon be becoming Agricultural Smart as now,Telenor‘s Tameer Bank and Punjab Govt unite to expedite Digital Farming by giving out smart(interest free) loans to farmers in Punjab .The collaboration by the entities is made to further boost Pakistan’s standing as a major Agricultural country.

The networked digital farm of the future is already making agriculture more efficient and sustainable today.I believe that production capabilities can be increased incredibly by simply providing timely information to the farmers. With a prefect blend of good soil and state-of-the art technology, Pakistan can show wonders on increasing the production capabilities. Many of the poor farmers can benefit from the Tameer Bank’s interest free loan plan . We hope to see an Agricultural Smart home land soon.

Digital solutions making inroads in Pakistan’s Agriculture

The project expects to  increase overall yield and productivity of the crops grown in Punjab region.Bank has announced;

• Loans worth in aggregate over PKR 2 billion for over 35,000 farmers
• total scheme announced by the government of Punjab is over PKR 77 billion for          450,000 farmers

The Punjab government’s interest-free loan scheme is being led by Ministry of Agriculture and Finance in support from State Bank of Pakistan, Punjab Institute of Technology Board, Ministry of Finance.

Smartphones by Telenor

Telenor together with the government of Punjab will distribute smartphones under the scheme to help farmers benefit from the host of digital services. This will enable farmers to have an access to;

1. E-credit scheme (Digital Wallet),
2. weather Alerts,
3. Crop Calendar,
4. Agri TV,
5. E-Zarri Baithak, Agri TV and more.
