USF Approves Provision of 3G Services in Unserved Areas of KP

Universal Service Fund Company (USF Co) approved a new project for the provision of 3G services in un-served areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the USF Co 50th Board of Directors Meeting. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom, here in Islamabad. USF Approves Provision of 3G Services in Unserved Areas of KP.

The new project named Kohistan Lot, includes unserved areas of Kohistan, Batigram, Mansehra, Haripur and Abbottabad districts. The USF Board of Directors also finalized the award under Broadband for Sustainable Development Project for Kohistan Lot to M/s Telenor.

USF Approves Provision of 3G Services in Unserved Areas of KP

The project will assist an un-served population of almost 878,065 people, covering 1,283 unserved Mauzas and an unserved area of 11,362 sq kms.

Minister of State for IT & Telecom, Anusha Rehman also analyzed the ongoing projects of USF referring to the establishment of Telecenters, Broadband for Sustainable Development Project and USF Small Lots Project, during the meeting.

Other administrative and corporate matters of USF Co were also taken in to consideration by the Board of Directors.

Board members including the Secretary IT; Mr. Rizwan Bashir Khan, Member Telecom; Mr. Mudassar Hussain, Chairman PTA; Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, Mr. Aamir Ibrahim; CEO Jazz, President and CEO PTCL; Mr. Daniel Ritz and CEO USF Co; Mr. Haaris M. Chaudhary were also present at the meeting.
