Govt. to Provide 30,000 Smartphones to the Beneficiaries of BISP. Government will distribute these smartphones among Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) beneficiaries. Govt. is going to take this step to enhance financial and digital inclusion.
Govt. to Provide 30,000 Smartphones to the Beneficiaries of BISP
The smartphones will also have 3G services. These services would be provided in un-served and under-served areas of Balochistan and FATA under a programme. This programme would be funded by Universal Service Fund (USF).
The distribution of smartphones will be done with the launch of upcoming broadband projects in Balochistan and FATA. Under this project Balochistan and FATA wil get 3G services.

They would also be given Rs 250 balance every month. The phones will also have different apps to increase mobile adaptability including understanding of e-commerce etc.
The BISP beneficiaries would also get information about the amount they are receiving from the government, which would mitigate the fraud chances.
Sources further said pilot project would cover Sibi, Harnai, Barkhan, Loralai-Zhob, Musakhel, Sherani-Kalat, Kharan, Washuk, Kohlu Dera Bugti, Kohistan and entire FATA including all seven agencies.
