Intel’s New 5G Modem to Power Apple’s First 5G iPhones

It is to be believed that the race of 5G will began in 2019.  Now Intel has finally announced its plans for the next-generation network in the form of its new XMM 8160 5G modem. The XMM 8160 modem will be available for manufacturers sometime in the second half of 2019. This is multi-mode mode. It supports 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G—is capable of speeds up to six gigabits per second.

XMM 8160 modem supports most of the exciting new technologies expected in the first wave of 5G mobile products.

Most technology analysts expect to see this modem in the first 5G iPhone. Apple is planning to use Intel’s modems exclusively with this year’s iPhones—the iPhone XS and XR both use the Intel XMM 7560 modem. Moreover,  the company is generally expected to stick with Intel in 2019 and 2020.

There are so many reports floating around a 5G capable iPhone in 2019.  This particular acceleration of 5G availability might influence some other phones, but not Apple’s.

If mobile companies such as Apple get the modem in the second half 2019 then it will not be going to ship in an iPhone in September of that same year.

In 2019, 5G is expected to come in higher-power devices like fixed residential broadband or in some big  Android phones with huge batteries.
