WhatsApp Launches Feature to Mention Users in Status Updates
The messaging giant WhatsApp always seems to be working to improve the user experience. In this regard, a source has revealed that it is working on the latest feature that lets users privately mention their favorite contacts in status updates.
Moreover, every time a user mentions a friend in a status update, an alert is sent to that contact only. It’s important to note here that this alert is private. Therefore, only the contacts that have been mentioned will receive alerts, safeguarding their privacy as other users can’t read these mentions. According to WABetainfo,
“By allowing users to mention contacts in their status updates, it generates a greater sense of interaction within specific contacts. This system will ensure that important updates or moments are always brought to the attention of mentioned contacts since a notification is sent directly to them.”
“In addition, since these mentions are private, they won’t be visible in status updates, ensuring that they remain discreet and confined to the intended recipients,” they added.
On the other hand, WhatsApp’s swipeable navigation bar has also become official and has been rolled out to most users. The company has been experimenting with an innovative menu bar style. The change shows how WhatsApp is adhering to Google’s Material Design guidelines, according to WABetaInfo.
