Lawmakers have questioned official from Facebook, YouTube and Twitter regarding curbing of terrorist content on social media. They also asked these companies that how such content can be removed form these sites. YouTube, Twitter & Facebook Grilled by Senators for Spreading Terrorist Content.

All three social media sites officials revealed that hate groups and terrorist are using their platform with propaganda to shut YouTube, Facebook and Twitter by spreading false news and hatred.

Terrorist organizations are using some other methods to fight AI and algorithms that these platforms use to curb such hatred news. Now terrorist are turning to messaging app which are less encrypted such as Telegram, Reddit and WhatsApp.

Senator Ben Nelson, said:

“These platforms have created a new and stunningly effective way for nefarious actors to attack and to harm. crackdown efforts by the social media giants so far are “not enough.”

Hearing quickly moved to broader issues, veering into larger questions about the companies’ responsibilities to the public. Several senators questioned the representatives about Russian misinformation campaigns. All social media platforms share the measures they took to avoid such incidents from occurring again.

However senate committee asked these platforms to be more committed towards this issue as they are the major sources for spreading happiness and hatred in society.
