Android Auto Wireless Now Live for Pixel and Nexus Phones

There is a good news for Pixel and Nexus users that Android Auto Wireless Now Live for many Pixel and Nexus Phones. According to an announcement by Google, Pixel and Nexus users will get enabled wireless Android Auto this week.

Here is the list of devices who are getting Android Auto Wireless

  • Pixel
  • Pixel XL
  • Nexus 5X
  • Pixel 2
  • Pixel 2 XL
  • Nexus 6P

All above mentioned devices running Android Oreo or higher are compatible with the new feature. This new feature will automatically loads Android Auto on your car display when you get in the vehicle. So, You don’t need to take your phone out of your pocket or plug it in. It automatically connects over Wi-Fi.

This feature will come to non-Google devices, with the company noting:

we are actively working with phone manufacturers on adding software compatibility and hope to share more updates soon.

Currently, the support is only available for devices in North America. Moreover,  the only head units that work wirelessly are available from JVC and Kenwood. These companies introduced their compatible head units at CES this year.

Google says,

“more products to roll out throughout the year,”.

However, it is not clear whether older displays will be able to handle this wireless setup or not.
