CTPL and PITB to Launch Android APP RASTA

The City Traffic Police Lahore in partnership with Punjab Information and Technology Board has planned to launch an android Application named Road and Streets Traffic Awareness. This app is planned in order to provide traffic details and improve coordination with citizens. CTPL and PITB to Launch Android APP RASTA.

The plan was conformed in a meeting held between the officials of CTPL and PITB. This meeting was held at the Arfa Kareem Technology Park Tower and Chief Traffic Police Officer, Rai Ijaz Ahmad attended it and discussed the functionalities of App with other officials.

Rai Ijaz revealed that the App will have six basic features including traffic updates, e-licensing, e-challanning, FM Radio and complaints. The officers who conducted the meeting belong to a group which has sued same type of App in pilot project. Due to this they shared their suggestions of betterment during the meeting.

Events and traffic advisory , CTPL will inform people on traffic plans due to pre- decided functions or programs via news. For example if there is a an event in GHQ , they will inform about it and will let people know schedule and issue instructions as per traffic plan for safety measures.

Rai Ijaz Said:

“We have planned to launch it before Eidul-Fitr,” said Ijaz. “Once it is finalised, they will register it with Google Play store from where citizens can download it after entering their computerised national identity card number.”

Via this App, citizens will be able to learn about different traffic routes to opt for reaching the desired destination in estimated time. Citizens will also be able to register their suggestions or complaints about wardens’ behavior, licensing facility or traffic issues in any location. People will also be able to upload pictures, videos and send messages for their feedback.

Ijaz also added that CTPL road safety unit will send message to license holder for traffic education and awareness. It means this App is not only beneficial for citizens but also for wardens. The part of Application used by CTPL will be designated for their departmental management.
