Facebook Alters your Mood from Happy to Unhappy, Jealous & Finally Leave you Sad: Report. As Facebook is presently the most popular social media platform having 1.79 billion monthly active users, Source: Facebook as of 11/02/16, but a report recently published by “The Independent” revealed that the excessive use of this platform is the reason of many mood swings in individuals. People who are see something being posted on their friend’s timeline alters their mood and makes them jealous in short.

This survey was conducted by “University of Copenhagen“ involving 1,095 people; half of these people were asked to use Facebook on daily basis for a week; whereas the rest of people were ordered to abstain from using Facebook.

The study showed that users who did not use Facebook for a week were found happy, satisfied and relaxed in their life. Whereas on the other hand, Those who were asked to keep using Facebook for a week were found unhappy, unsatisfied and envious from the daily activities of their friend’s list hence, this group admitted to be suffering from “Facebook Envoy.”

Sample Size and Type of Study:

• Total number of people 1,095
• Sample Size: 86%
• Place of study: Denmark
• Average Age of Sample Group: 34 years
• People having around 350 friends on Facebook were shortlisted for the study.

Those who stayed away from Facebook reported their satisfaction level 8.11 out of 10 whereas those who kept using it have 7.74 level.

The author of report, Morthen Tromholt started his study with this general hypothesis that:

“We are surely better connected now than ever before, but is this new connectedness doing any good to our well-being?”
