Instagram Security Flaw reportedly Exposed Passwords of Some Users

Instagram security flaw lies in the ‘Download Your Data’ tool. For some users, it included their password in the URL of the link they’ve been sent to while downloading their data. If they were on a shared computer, that link would have exposed their password to people using it after them.

Instagram originally launched its “Download Your Data” tool in its app in April of this year to comply with the EU’s GDPR, but it is available to users around the world as well. Once you request your data via the tool, Instagram emails you within 48 hours. The email will include everything you have shared on Instagram and all of the data the company has collected.

Instagram has fixed the bug after it spotted. The company has also advised the users to clear their browser history to prevent seeing the URL with the password. The company also said that the passwords stored on Facebook’s servers have also been deleted since the issue came into notice.
