Mobile Import Drops by 12.03% During 2016-17 Fiscal Year
Mobile phone import in the country declined by 12.03 percent in July-August 2016-17 as compared to same period last year. The mobile phone import dropped to $92.704 million in July- August (2016-17) from $105.378 million in first two months of preceding fiscal year.

According to the recent statistics revealed by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), on year-on-year basis, the imports also decreased by 22.51% to $46.50 million in August, 2016 from $60.01 million in August, 2015. On month-on-month basis however, the import of cell phones witnessed a slight increase of 0.65 per cent as the import in July, 2016 stood at $46.201 million.
The total telecom imports also dropped by 9.71 per cent to $174.469 million in July-August (2016-17), from $193.222 million in the first two months of preceding year.
On month-on-month basis the telecom import increased to $100.208 million in August, 2016 from $74.261 million in July, 2016, thus showing an increase of 34.94%. Whereas, the telecom import decreased by 12.82 million on year- on-year basis. As the import in August, 2015 were recorded at $114.945 million.
