MoITT Placed in Top Five Nominations for ‘Equals in Tech 2017’ Awards

Great news for Pakistan! MoITT Placed in Top Five Nominations for ‘Equals in Tech 2017‘ Awards. Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication makes it to the top five nominations for international Equals in Tech Awards. MoITT is selected in this category for its information and communications technology project fro girls.

MoITT Placed in Top Five Nominations for ‘Equals in Tech 2017’ Awards

The Equals in Tech Awards is a two days event, held from December 19 to 20, 2017 in Geneva. The basic aim behind these international awards is to enhance gender equality in the ICT field and support the role of women in digital society.

The award committee for Equals in Tech Awards has accepted 293 nominations from 72 countries. After proper evaluation, 15 finalist made it to tech awards following different categories such as Access, Skills and Leadership.

While telling about the nominated ICT girls program, MoITT spokesperson told that:

Universal Service Fund (USF) is running ICT programmes for girls with the purpose to empower women and girls through information and communication education to uplift the digital literacy of girls in the country.

This ICT program will basically train girls from rural areas. By giving them basic training of IT skills, gender dividend society of Pakistan will transform to equality building. Women will become financially independent once equipped with ICT skills. These women will then add up to the economy of Pakistan.

MoITT also revealed that this ICT program is comprised of 4 Cs

An official from MoITT also revealed that this ICT program is comprised of 4 Cs that include computing, coding, communication and coaching.  Under this ICT program thousands of girls are trained by Microsoft certified trainers in Pakistan.

Equals in Tech award is a global initiative to eradicate gender discrimination in society and to support gender equality in the field of technology.

The awards are now part of Equals, United Nations Women and an International Telecommunication Union (ITU) global partnership to achieve gender equality in the digital age.

Lets cross our finger!! Lets hope MoITT get the first position in Equals in Tech 2017 Awards.
