PTI Digital Policy: The Digital Dream and Bitter Reality

Pakistan Tehreek- i- Insaf launched the first ever digital policy which is aimed at transforming Pakistan into a knowledge economy by making Information Technology (IT) the top contributor to Pakistan’s exports. PTI Digital Policy is aimed at creating more jobs for youth.

PTI Digital Policy was announced by central leader Asad Umar who told that the policy is formulated after the consultations with IT industry and other stakeholders. He also told that this policy is open for everyone and further amendments will be welcomed.

The PTI Digital Policy has three major objectives:

1. creation of more jobs for youth
2. enhance country’s IT exports
3. promote E-governance to control corruption

While telling more about PTI Digital Policy, Asad Umer Said:

“This visionary policy encompasses long-term programmes that cover everything from education, infrastructure, financing to global market access

Key areas of intervention include:

1. Citizen Services and e-Government
2. Human Capital Development
3. Exports and Market Access supported by massive diplomatic & commercial drives
4. Infrastructure and Connectivity
5. Innovation Eco-system and Entrepreneurship
6. Policies and Regulations

Around 115,000 youth are working in IT sector. Asad Umar said that all necessary efforts will be made to enhance this number to one million and for this scholarship will also be awarded to IT, students. PTI wants to power Pakistan’s IT exports that will be enhanced from current $2 billion to 4 10 billion under this digital policy.

No Doubt, open government will increase transparency, curb corruption and increase efficiency in governance. Under this digital policy, 120 news campuses of universities will produce 100,000 technology graduates.

Around 1 million youths are entering into the market for seeking employment as per the statistic of Planning Commission. It is the responsibility of the government to create jobs opportunities for the people.

Pakistan’s exports have sharply declined in last five years which resulted in the huge trade deficit. Asad Umer said that in order to overcome this trade deficit, we have to increase our exports.

PTI has also launched Constituency Management System for Election Campaign. Imran Khan said that Constituency Management System is one of the best invention and a revolutionary thing that can help a lot in saving the data of constituencies. It can help you in getting information about the location of the voters.
