Punjab Govt Officially Inaugurates the Free WiFi Hotspots Project

The dream of a true “Digital Pakistan” is becoming realistic with each passing day. As the Punjab Govt Officially Inaugurates the Free WiFi Hotspots Project Today to Bridge the Digital Divide. The Government of Punjab has introduced back in December, 2016 its “Digital Punjab Campaign” to install around 200 free WiFi hotspots in major cities including Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. Now today the Punjab Government is officially launching this initiative aiming to provide free WiFi to the residents of these cities.

The future plans of Digital Punjab Campaign include to introduce free Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the Punjab. Currently Free hotspots are available in these three major cities of Pakistan.

These hotspots are located at different educational and government institutions and public parks. Moreover different market places, hospitals, railway stations, airports and bus stations will get free WiFi.

Before this, Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC) with the support of Wateen Telecom also come forward with same initiative and inaugurated first Free WiFi villages of Tharparkar, Sindh.
