Qualcomm Conducts OEM Workshop to Promote 4G Devices in Pakistan

Telenor OEM Workshop was conducted on Nov 15, 2016 in Islamabad and was organized by Qualcomm as a step forward for Telenor to build ecosystem of 4G devices supporting 850 MHz on band 5.

The major objective of this workshop was to offer perspective from Telenor and Qualcomm to all participating OEM brands and to certify inclusion of 850 MHz on band 5 for the upcoming 4G devices. The workshop was attended by all major OEM brands & Telenor Device and Technology Strategy teams. The brands included Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo, Alcatel, Oppo, Asus, Vestel, QMobile and Haier.

Whereas Vestel and Asus representatives traveled from Dubai and Turkey to join the event.

A detailed report was presented by Telenor Device Head. The presentation included Pakistan market dynamics, outlook about 850 MHz spectrum, 4G NW roll-out roadmap, data bundles and Telenor Group Devices procurement model. On the other hand Qualcomm’s presentations were mainly focusing on Pakistan market trends, impact of low quality devices on Mobile Network and Qualcomm’s chipset roadmap.

Telenor and Qualcomm registered an important message of inclusion of 850 MHz band support for upcoming 4G devices and agreed to hold product roadmap sessions between OEMs and Telenor in near future.
